Welp, apparently we’re going to have to stop comparing Peyton Manning to an android, robot, or cyborg, because according to a report from 14 News, he is, and has been, capable of emotion for a long time now.
A few weeks ago, Gayle Ricketts sent a hand-written letter to Peyton Manning telling him the story of her grandson Logan Brown, a Manning fan who had followed his career across teams and through injury. Brown would have been 16 this past Tuesday, had he not been killed in a tragic accident with a drunk driver in March. Manning responded not only with a handwritten letter of his own, but with a posthumous birthday present for Brown, an autographed picture telling the family that he is honored that Brown was a fan.

Apparently this isn’t the first time Peyton has done something like this either — judging by the comments, Manning has reached out to other fans and written letters in response to families that reach out to him.
Sports media sites (and honestly, KSK is no exception) often boil athletes down to their component parts, their stat lines, and their performance in order to analyze them more effectively. Sometimes it’s nice to remember that we’re talking about actual human beings.
